I could not be more proud to announce that as of August 1st, 2015, my long time dream of owning my own facility becomes a reality.
Pike Physical Therapy & Fitness Center on Rt 739 in Dingmans Ferry, PA, is becoming two separate entities with the front building continuing to be all about therapy and pool, while the back building, including the gym, studio, babysitting and Spin room becomes Damien Roche Fitness.
I have worked in various gyms and pools since the early '90s, have met and had the honor to work along side many great mentors who have inspired me to just simply be better. So many of these remain close contacts in spite of being 5,000 km and two decades away. You guys know who you are.
Fast forward to 2011, where I got my first regular training gig in my new home of North East Pennsylvania, when Mary Ann Ruby of Bodies In Balance in Milford took a chance and offered me a class. After checking around to see what was missing in the area I decided I had to make it a Circuit Training class,( which is still one of my signature classes today). A great choice I think as this class led to another class at a more popular time, then to adding some hours covering the reception and gym floor. Next I added a class on a gym in Middletown, New York, a 45 min drive away. I met some great people there and 1 class became 4, and then added an early morning outdoor Bootcamp. Mary Ann then introduced me to Rachael Bell of Pike Physical Therapy & Fitness and I haven't looked back since. Rachael, along with owners Don & Regina, took me in like family and we just kept adding to my roles and responsibilities.
So it is a great honor that I get to step up and become the new owner of their labor of love. Knowing how much of themselves that they have poured in to building this gym from scratch, will make me work extra hard to make Damien Roche Fitness a success. And through all of this, my biggest supporter and rock , my wife Kalyn, has been there... refusing to let me quit on this fitness career and get a 'regular' job even when it was the logical thing to do.... I would simply not be here without her. I can not wait to see if I can continue to build a dream that we can all be proud to be a part of.
